We're Baaacck!

Howdy y'all! It's great to be back :) It's been a crazy busy year for us but things are beginning to settle down a bit. We've moved to yet another beautiful, new little corner of the world... I've had a change in my career and the kids of course are enjoying new discoveries everywhere amid all the changes.

So what's new with us?
My recent 4 yr stint as Marketing & Account Manager for a sub-prime auto leasing company came to an end last spring. It was the perfect position for me as it required me to work from a home office which really meant that I was able to work from the playground, or airport or Mexican beach... you get the idea. So when the company president decided it was time to retire and wind things down, I kept my ear to the ground for something similarly flexible that would suit our unschooling, nomadic lifestyle.

I struck gold with a new company that specializes in commercial equipment leasing. After a few meetings with the President and Vice President, I was crowned my new title of "Commercial Lease Consultant". The upside: given the high price tags of most commercial equipment (think tractors, farm equipment and long-haul trucking), this new opportunity is far more lucrative than the previous business I was in. A little more competitive but worth the time and effort put into building a solid network of vendors and clients. The downside: Starting over... building a new network takes time and until it reaches a comfortable level, I've been moonlighting to ease the stress of this birthing stage. (Hence my disappearing act... putting in 70 hour work weeks has been exhausting!)

We're loving our new location... it's serving as a home base. We plan to stay in this lovely old farmhouse until the aforementioned network is thriving and then take shorter, more frequent trips to all the places we want to experience. We plan to keep the place in Canada this time to spare ourselves the added challenge of dragging our entire lives around with us in a suitcase. I'm also thinking that our Belizean adoptee will stay put during our future adventures too. He does not enjoy air travel and besides, he's found a new friend here to keep him company.

As always, I am excited about what the future holds for us and absolutely thrilled to have some free time again to share our adventures, challenges and crazy thoughts!

Stay tuned...

    1. It was the change in my job situation that brought us back to Canada. The convenience of traveling lighter and being able to fit more adventures in is why I'm thinking we'll keep the home base here :)
